About Vicon
Vicon develops optical motion-capture systems for engineering, robotics, life sciences and entertainment. Valkyrie and other high-speed cameras track reflective or active markers, while Tracker software reconstructs precise three-dimensional position and orientation for robots, people and moving objects.
Robotics teams use the system as ground truth for localisation, control validation, dynamic testing and sim-to-real research. Synchronisation and real-time streaming connect measurements to robot controllers and analysis tools across a calibrated capture volume. With more than 40 years in motion capture, Vicon supplies cameras, software, integration, calibration and support to laboratories and industrial facilities.

Events
- 2026-10-09 - Acquisition - Oxford Metrics acquires Move AI assets for £525,000 to expand Vicon
Immediate transaction expenses bring the total cash cost to approximately £725,000. Move AI adds single-camera and large-volume markerless capture, including its Genesis real-time platform, to Vicon's measurement systems. The purchased business reported unaudited revenue of £1.1 million for the year ended December 31, 2025.
Source - 2026-10-09 - Market Signal - Vicon discloses major robotics orders and expanded movement-data rights
Vicon's systems capture human motion for robot training and provide reference measurements for testing robots and autonomous systems. The group is increasing investment in markerless and hybrid capture, robotics and recurring software while established entertainment and research markets face weaker demand.
Source - 2026-09-30 - Facility Opening - Innodata opens New Jersey motion-capture lab for Physical AI
The facility uses Vicon infrared optical motion-capture cameras with company-reported sub-millimetre accuracy and low latency. Vicon consulted on the lab design and continues to provide technical consulting. Customers can license motion datasets, commission custom capture projects and submit robots for external performance evaluation.
Source - 2022-07-19 - Product Launch - Vicon launches Valkyrie motion-capture camera range
Four Valkyrie configurations balance resolution and capture speed for different motion-capture volumes and workflows. The range reaches 26.2 MP at 150 fps and supports windowed capture rates up to 2,000 fps. Valkyrie is designed for engineering, life-sciences, visual-effects and immersive-media measurement workflows.
