About Loomia

Loomia’s Electronic Layer embeds flexible circuitry in fabrics and other soft materials. Custom force-sensitive resistor matrices can wrap around fingertips, knuckles and gripper surfaces to measure pressure, while evaluation samples and engineering services help customers develop application-specific geometries. The same technology supports switches and heating elements for automotive, wearable and medical products.

For Festo’s pneumatic robotic hand, Loomia fabricated a glove with 131 sensing points across the palm and fingers, accommodating the changing geometry of inflatable fingers. Founded as The Crated in 2014, the Brooklyn company has signed an acquisition agreement with Unichem; closing remains subject to conditions.
