About NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS
NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, formerly NTT Communications, is a Tokyo-based ICT services company in the NTT DOCOMO group. Its robotics and mobility role centres on integrating communications, edge processing, monitoring systems and roadside sensing with vehicle operators and local governments. The company supplies the network and operational infrastructure around automated vehicles rather than manufacturing the bus platforms.
Autonomous-bus programmes combine local and carrier 5G, network-resource controls and mobile edge computing to maintain monitoring video and vehicle information across changing radio conditions. Roadside LiDAR and cameras contribute to vehicle–infrastructure coordination, including narrow-road passing and visibility constraints. Its Ebina programme with Sotetsu Bus includes driver-operated calibration runs before planned public passenger trials, with Level 4 automation as a longer-term implementation target. The docomo business SIGN service also supports secure IoT connectivity and planned sovereign AI processing for physical-AI workloads.

The trial route expands to approximately10.6 km round trip between Tsurugamine station and Yokohama Zoo’s north gate. Two vehicles are planned, with one operator monitoring both through mobile edge processing. Local5G, roadside LiDAR and cameras support visibility constraints and narrow-road passing.
