About
About Apex Mobility
Apex Mobility is a South Korean autonomous-mobility joint venture formed by Socar with Krafton as a core investor. Its first commercial layer uses Socar’s connected car-sharing fleet to collect driving video, vehicle telemetry and accident edge cases, then anonymizes, synchronizes and labels the material for autonomous-driving model training and simulation.
The company can also collect data to customer specifications by region, period, vehicle type and driving scenario. Its August 2026 launch draws on roughly 25,000 connected vehicles and a dedicated sensor-equipped prototype, while its longer-term roadmap extends into autonomous ride-hailing and other mobility services.

The first stage converts Socar road and edge-case data into simulation-ready training material. A sensor-equipped Ioniq 5 prototype adds lidar and seven surround cameras for multimodal data collection. Ride-hailing and route-based or demand-responsive robobus services remain planned future stages, not current deployments.

The pipeline draws on roughly 25,000 connected Socar vehicles producing about 1.1 million kilometres of driving data per day. Apex anonymizes, time-synchronizes and labels driving situations, then supplies international-standard data for model training and simulation. Customers can commission collection by region, period, vehicle type and scenario; a sensor-equipped Ioniq 5 prototype adds dedicated LiDAR and seven-camera capture.

Socar says the new company is planned for May 2026, with Socar CEO Park Jae-wook also leading the venture. Socar plans to contribute 15 years of autonomous-driving data and mobility-platform operations, including a pipeline built around 25,000 vehicles, roughly 1.1 million km of daily driving data and 220,000 accident records. Apex Mobility will target staged commercialization from L2 car-sharing to L4 ride-hailing, with Krafton investing KRW 65 billion and further investment planned for the new entity.
