About Bossa Nova Robotics
Bossa Nova Robotics developed tall autonomous robots that travelled retail aisles and scanned shelves from multiple camera heights. Computer vision converted the imagery into item availability, price-label and planogram information, allowing store teams and consumer-goods suppliers to identify empty spaces, misplaced products and execution problems without repeated manual audits.
The system combined mobile navigation with a cloud analytics service and was deployed at substantial retail scale, including more than 500 Walmart stores before that programme ended in 2020. The robots gathered shelf data but did not restock merchandise. Bossa Nova subsequently continued applying its perception and analytics technology to retail inventory, with its enduring technical position centred on turning repeated aisle imagery into structured, item-level store intelligence.
