About Epiroc
Epiroc combines mining equipment with automation that can also be fitted to machines from other manufacturers. Its open-autonomy approach connects drilling, haulage and staffed vehicles within a mixed fleet, giving mine operators a route to automate existing equipment as well as new purchases.
The LinkOA platform shares drill plans, missions, tracking and machine data across surface operations. Its broader automation offering includes remote control, semi-autonomous operation and supervision of multiple machines, addressing both surface and underground work. Epiroc therefore supplies more than an autonomous vehicle: its equipment, retrofit technology and coordination software connect individual machine movements with the mine’s production plan and operating infrastructure.

- 2026-09-03 - Capability - Epiroc extends Deep Automation to underground-to-surface hauling
A common automation system can now cover operating cycles that run from underground production areas to surface dumping locations. The surface capability uses 3D LiDAR for localisation, mapping and obstacle detection where positioning references are sparser and weather conditions can change. At Epiroc World Expo in June 2026, a battery-electric mine truck demonstrated the system by detecting obstacles and stopping automatically.

Epiroc and Hancock Iron Ore reached more than 200 million tonnes moved autonomously at the Roy Hill mine. The milestone used LinkOA, Epiroc's OEM-agnostic automation solution for autonomous haulage. The event demonstrates autonomous mining operations at large production scale.

Epiroc completed the acquisition of the remaining share of ASI Mining, a U.S.-based autonomous mining solutions provider. ASI Mining develops autonomy systems for mining vehicles and fleet automation. The deal deepens Epiroc's control of autonomous mining technology inside its digital and automation portfolio.
