Timeline
Events
- 2026-10-01 - Partnership - Epistra signs life-science AI cooperation memorandum with Takara Bio
Proposed work spans genomics and omics analysis, process improvement, quality management and joint customer proposals. The initial evaluation indicated potential to extract insights missed by conventional analysis; expansion into contract-analysis services remains under consideration.
Source - 2026-10-01 - Contract Award - Epistra joins JST ARiSE autonomous-laboratory project
The project targets continuous autonomous experiment planning, execution and analysis by connecting AI agents, robots and laboratory equipment. Institute of Science Tokyo professor Genki Kanda leads the project, with RIKEN’s Koichi Takahashi and Epistra CEO Yosuke Ozawa as joint representatives. Epistra contributes AI-based experimental-condition optimization and experience integrating robotics into life-science research workflows.
Source - 2026-06-29 - Product Launch - Epistra launches jointly developed CellTune Ver.2 internationally
CellTune uses LC-MS culture-supernatant data to identify influential parameters and propose media compositions and culture conditions. Epistra reports that its updated optimization algorithm reduces required experiments by 40% versus Version 1 and adds simulations of optimization success probability. Shimadzu and Shimadzu Diagnostics plan domestic and international contract manufacturing of media optimized with CellTune.
Source - 2025-11-27 - Demonstration - Epistra reports laboratory bioprocess validation with Hitachi and Fermelanta
Epistra reports that 60 experiments explored an 11-variable condition space, increasing reticuline yield from 3.2 to 6.0 g/L. The release reports up to 73% fewer laboratory experiments; pilot-scale validation was planned for fiscal 2025.
