Essential Aero

Essential Aero is a California robotics company focused narrowly on airport and military-airfield operations. Its systems address foreign object debris, a safety and readiness problem traditionally handled through manual vehicle sweeps and visual inspections. The company offers both customer-operated deployments and a managed Robot-as-a-Service model.

FOD-BOT combines a mobile base with centimetre-level positioning, LiDAR, cameras, radar and edge autonomy. Missions are planned and monitored through EssentialCommand and EssentialSupervisor; the robot can navigate a route, collect debris, dock for wireless charging and empty itself at a disposal station. Swift Navigation reports deployments associated with the U.S. Air Force and FAA and civilian pilots at four western U.S. airports. Those claims establish field use while leaving fleet size and contract value undisclosed.
