About GlobalFoundries
GlobalFoundries was formed in 2009 and operates semiconductor fabs in the United States, Europe and Singapore. Unlike a fabless chip designer, it provides the manufacturing processes, packaging coordination and supply infrastructure that customers use to move integrated circuits from design into volume production.
Within autonomy, the company is an upstream manufacturing layer. Arbe identifies GlobalFoundries as the foundry and turnkey manufacturing partner for its radar semiconductors, linking GF capacity to perception systems used in vehicles and robotic platforms. Korthos therefore tracks the company narrowly as a semiconductor supply-chain participant, not as a robotics pure play.

- 2026-10-09 - Capability - GlobalFoundries outlines FDX Fusion Physical AI platform and Dresden expansion
Demonstrator silicon is targeted for early 2027, followed by an initial process design kit in mid-2027. GF expects seven-nanometer-class digital performance and more than twice the density of first-generation FDX. The €1.1 billion SPRINT expansion reached topping-out and targets annual Dresden capacity above one million 300mm wafers by the end of 2028.

Acies combines an open standards-based NPU, open software stack and developer form factor for edge inference workloads. Actus targets real-time motion control, sensor fusion and predictive-maintenance applications. Aegis targets mission-critical systems requiring low-latency and agentic processing.

The five-year agreement covers semiconductor manufacture, pre-production, quality assurance, assembly, testing and supply-chain management. GlobalFoundries committed to supply Arbe against binding forecasts. Arbe later reported that commercial-quantity production had not yet begun.
