About GM Defense
GM Defense is General Motors’ wholly owned defense and government business, re-established in 2017. The current company applies commercial vehicle engineering, propulsion, testing and manufacturing to military requirements. Its wider portfolio includes crewed tactical vehicles and power systems; Korthos tracks its directly attributable unmanned-platform and autonomy work. The present business is distinct from the earlier defense operation sold to General Dynamics in 2003.
At AUSA 2026, GM Defense unveiled an unmanned ground vehicle concept based on a Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD dual-rear-wheel skateboard. Silent logistics and casualty evacuation are intended missions, with functional trials targeted for 2027. This remains a concept-stage programme. Its earlier teaming agreement with Anduril combines vehicle expertise with sensing, autonomy and land-system command-and-control technology, while retaining programme capture and integration as separate from awarded deployment.

The agreement establishes a framework for pursuing defense programmes rather than an awarded deployment contract. GM Defense showcased an ISV configured with Anduril loitering munitions; Anduril displayed an ISV alongside Lattice. The collaboration combines GM Defense’s vehicle expertise with Anduril’s mission-level autonomy and command-and-control software.
