Hellbender develops edge-computing hardware, cameras, perception systems and product infrastructure for robotics, autonomy and industrial AI. Its engineering work spans board design, embedded software, imaging, machine learning and mechanical packaging for equipment that must process sensor data close to the machine.
The Pittsburgh company supports the full hardware lifecycle from architecture and rapid prototypes through certification, production transfer, contract manufacturing and continuous improvement. Customers use Hellbender as a development and manufacturing partner for specialised devices and robotic subsystems, retaining a coherent design path as prototypes become maintainable commercial products.

- 2026-09-23 - Demonstration - First Breach validates free flight of Class 1 UAV
The approximately 2.2 kg prototype carries about 500 g and has demonstrated a 2 km range and roughly 10-minute endurance. The aircraft flew with commercial flight electronics; the Hellbender-developed controller runs Betaflight but has not yet been integrated into the flying prototype. Initial prototypes are targeted for Q4 2026; scaling in Q2 2027 and capacity above 2,500 drones per week remain company targets.
