Iron Drone
About
About Iron Drone
Iron Drone is Airobotics' autonomous counter-UAS system for physically capturing hostile aircraft. Once an external detection layer identifies a threat, a launch station deploys the reusable interceptor, which navigates toward the target, tracks manoeuvres in real time and releases its interception payload to complete a controlled engagement without depending on GPS or radio-frequency jamming.
The system combines the interceptor, autonomous launch station, capture payload, command-and-control software and recovery equipment into a continuously ready installation. It is designed for micro, multirotor and fixed-wing targets around airports, borders, critical infrastructure and military sites, where a recoverable interceptor can support repeated missions while limiting collateral effects. Airobotics acquired Iron Drone in 2023 and recorded its first operational airport deployment in 2025.

- 2023-03-10 - Deployment - Airobotics implements Iron Drone defense systems with Dubai Police
Ondas said Airobotics had implemented Iron Drone counter-drone systems with Dubai Police just after completing the asset acquisition. The deployment framed Iron Drone''s technology as already moving into operational security use rather than remaining a purely developmental system. This is a distinct deployment event from the acquisition itself because it ties the platform to a named customer and implementation context.
Source - 2023-03-07 - Acquisition - Airobotics completes acquisition of Iron Drone assets and launches the new counter-drone system
Ondas announced that its subsidiary Airobotics completed the acquisition of Iron Drone''s assets effective March 6, 2023. The release said the counter-drone system would be presented at the World Police Summit in Dubai and integrated into Ondas Autonomous Systems alongside Optimus for homeland-security and critical-infrastructure uses. This is the clear ownership and transition event for Iron Drone and should remain the anchor rather than being retold under conflicting entity narratives.
