Li-S Energy
About
About Li-S Energy
Li-S Energy is an Australian battery-technology company developing lithium-sulfur and lithium-metal cells that use boron nitride nanotubes and the company’s Li-nanomesh materials approach. The company positions the chemistry as a lighter, higher-energy alternative to conventional lithium-ion for applications where range, endurance and payload are tightly constrained.
The company’s robotics exposure is concentrated in uncrewed systems. Li-S Energy has disclosed evaluation or development work spanning counter-UAS interceptors, high-altitude UAVs, large uncrewed underwater vehicles and other defence platforms. It supplies an enabling power technology and does not manufacture the vehicles. Cell shipment for evaluation, including the 2026 U.S. Army DEVCOM delivery, is evidence of testing and is not counted as production adoption.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-09-30 - Demonstration - Li-S Energy powers Pegasus trial flight of nearly two hours and over 75 km
V-TOL Aerospace supplied the five-metre twin-motor airframe, while Li-S Energy supplied a 382 Wh battery pack and battery management system. Halocell’s perovskite solar array was fitted to the aircraft; the reported endurance flight used battery power. The partners will analyse flight data and assess commercial development; five-to-eight-hour endurance remains a future objective.
Source - 2026-08-24 - Demonstration - Li-S Energy delivers lithium-sulfur cells to U.S. Army for evaluation
The shipment is Li-S Energy’s first delivery to a U.S. Government agency. The evaluation covers a power technology intended for UAVs, ground robots and other autonomous or soldier systems.
Source - 2025-12-03 - Partnership - Li-S Energy and MSubs launch UUV battery-testing collaboration
MSubs will provide a specialised pressure-test chamber for trials at Li-S Energy's Geelong facility. The initial programme covers submarine-depth pressure and endurance testing designed to simulate multi-day deployments. Only if the trials succeed will the parties evaluate Li-S batteries as propulsion power sources in current or future MSubs platforms.

ATMOS Mk1 had completed a one-day flight above 56,000 feet. The Mk2 aircraft was under design for flights lasting months, with maritime awareness as an initial application. Kea conducts aircraft research and manufacturing in New Zealand and software development and flight operations in Queensland.
