About Nanotech Energy
Founded in 2014 in Los Angeles, Nanotech Energy develops non-flammable lithium-ion technology, graphene materials and battery cells. Its business combines proprietary materials with domestic cell-manufacturing infrastructure rather than producing a complete vehicle or robotic system.
In 2026 Amprius selected Nanotech Energy to manufacture SA128 silicon-anode cells in the United States. Those cells target weight-sensitive markets including drones, electric aviation and advanced mobility. The agreement places Nanotech Energy in the power-system supply chain as a domestic production partner capable of translating high-energy cell designs into commercial output.

The partners refined a 21700-format SA128 cell rated at 6.8 Ah and 320 Wh/kg. Nanotech Energy is Amprius’s first U.S.-based manufacturing partner for these high-performance cells. The programme serves defense, aerospace and other mission-critical applications that require a domestic production chain.
