About NASA Ames Research Center
Ames develops autonomy for missions in which spacecraft, robots and crews must make decisions with delayed or limited ground support. Its Intelligent Systems work includes robot software, autonomous vehicle management, perception, planning and human-autonomy teaming, with laboratories used to test how people supervise increasingly capable machines.
ARMADAS applies distributed robotics to autonomous in-space construction. Multiple robots cooperate to assemble, inspect and maintain modular structures rather than launching every large structure in its final form. Ames delivers research, flight software and mission demonstrations through NASA programmes and partnerships rather than operating as a commercial robot vendor.
