• 2026-10-08 - Product Launch - SRC introduces Gryphon R1810 radar for Northrop Grumman’s Raid Hunter

  The design reuses Gryphon electronics and antenna modules, with eight subarrays per panel. A single panel can track an aerial target and the munition fired during an engagement. A four-panel configuration supports 360-degree surveillance for other missions.

  Flight tracking placed the test at Mojave Air and Space Port in California. The prototype was built by Northrop-owned Scaled Composites and opens a flight-test phase for the collaborative combat aircraft market. The flight comes as the U.S. Air Force considers requirements for the next CCA increment.

  The programme includes ground and flight testing of the propulsion system and its production processes. Development will take place at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in West Virginia. XRC is intended to extend the Army’s Maneuver Short Range Air Defense capability against uncrewed aerial threats.

  The test paired magnetic and visual navigation on an attritable one-way aircraft. AQNav was installed into the existing system in under an hour and ran on onboard compute. The software provides positioning without GPS and can complement inertial, visual and satellite navigation.

  Northrop Grumman's Mission Robotic Vehicle launched on July 21 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9. NASA supplied simulation tools, software-performance analysis and flight robot operators. The spacecraft is designed to inspect and upgrade satellites using twin dexterous robotic arms.

  The Phase II effort covered a Kelp Smart Buoy sensor suite for detecting hypersonic aircraft from the ocean surface. The system was designed to integrate with Navy command-and-control systems for real-time intelligence sharing. KSB units had already undergone testing at government-sponsored Trident Spectre 2024 and Silent Swarm events.

  DARPA said the Manta Ray uncrewed underwater vehicle prototype built by Northrop Grumman completed full-scale in-water testing. Testing demonstrated submerged operations using buoyancy, propellers and control surfaces after modular shipment and field assembly. The milestone validates Northrop Grumman's extra-large UUV work for persistent undersea autonomy.

  Moog was tasked to design, qualify and manufacture the demonstrator’s flight-control actuators, actuator-control electronics and accessories. The system used redundant actuation for vertical take-off, landing and cruise flight, plus Moog flight-critical software. Initial product deliveries were scheduled within 12 months of the contract award for the full-scale demonstration aircraft.

  The Sensor Management Unit links Global Hawk's sensor suite to satellite and ground communications and its dual-redundant mission-management computer. The engineering and manufacturing development phase was to begin immediately under Curtiss-Wright's VISTA Controls subsidiary. Its open architecture allows the sensor-management subsystem to change without requiring changes to other aircraft systems.
