About Novacium

Novacium develops silicon-rich anode materials and batteries, pairing its materials work with pack engineering for unmanned aircraft. Its GEN3 6S1P packs use lithium-ion cells incorporating Novacium silicon-anode material and entered a French defence-drone order through LN Innov in August 2026. A September order covered 100 AA NOVA 6S3P packs for Alta Ares' X-Lock interceptor drone.

The company is also evaluating a France-produced composite anode with Tokai COBEX Savoie, combining Novacium silicon material with synthetic graphite. These programmes place Novacium across the battery stack, from active material development to application-specific packs supplied for autonomous and counter-UAS platforms.

Events

  • 2026-09-17 - Commercial Order - Novacium receives first commercial order for Alta Ares interceptor-drone battery packs

The AA NOVA 6S3P packs deliver 15,000 mAh using 18 silicon-anode 21700 cells and are lighter than Alta Ares' reference battery at comparable performance. The order follows nearly six months of co-development and a July 2026 test campaign in which ten prototypes met Alta Ares' performance and reliability criteria. The packs are scheduled for delivery before the end of September 2026; X-Lock is an AI-guided quadcopter interceptor selected under France's DGA ELISA programme.

  • 2026-09-10 - Partnership - Novacium and Tokai COBEX evaluate joint European anode material

The evaluation pairs Novacium's silicon-based anode materials with battery-grade synthetic graphite of 99.99% stated purity, made in France by Tokai COBEX Savoie, part of Japan's Tokai Carbon Group. Novacium's GEN3 and GEN4 anode materials address silicon's expansion problem, where volume can grow by more than 300% during lithiation and requires engineered control. The stated goal is a complete anode material designed and potentially manufactured in France, weighing graphite's roughly 372 mAh/g theoretical capacity against silicon's about 4,200 mAh/g.

  • 2026-08-19 - Commercial Order - Novacium takes first French Army drone battery order through partner LN Innov

LN Innov ordered GEN3 6S1P packs rated at 6,000 mAh that use Novacium silicon-anode lithium-ion cells, and will fit them into FPV drones for a French Army regiment. The order is the first commercial use of Novacium's silicon-anode technology in the French defence sector and follows the integrated European electric-propulsion system shown at Eurosatory 2026. LN Innov, Novacium's electric-propulsion partner since June 2026, has been in discussions with French Army regiments since early 2026 and tested delivered battery samples during the second quarter.
