OKSI combines artificial intelligence, electro-optical engineering and embedded computing for systems that must operate with limited connectivity. The company grew from Opto-Knowledge Systems and works from Torrance, California, serving defence and aerospace programmes rather than the general enterprise-software market.

Its OMNISCIENCE architecture separates navigation, sensing and mission functions into deployable modules: OMNInav supports GPS-denied localisation, OMNIseek detects and recognises objects, OMNIlocate estimates target coordinates, OMNItarget supports terminal guidance and OMNImind coordinates mission logic. OKSI also develops EO/IR payloads and seekers, giving it both an autonomy-software layer and the sensing hardware used to execute those functions at the edge.
