About Shibaura Machine
Shibaura Machine manufactures industrial robots alongside injection-moulding machines, die-casting equipment and machine tools. Its robot range includes SCARA and Cartesian platforms for assembly, component transfer, dispensing, packaging, screwdriving and machine loading.
Controllers coordinate arm motion with vision, feeders and surrounding production equipment, while varied reaches and payloads cover electronics through general manufacturing. The company supplies robot hardware, application engineering and integrated automation around its broader machinery portfolio. This lets moulding and machining customers combine production equipment and downstream handling within one industrial system.

Yoshiaki Kai became Director, Managing Executive Officer and CTO with responsibility for the R&D Center. Shibaura Machine appointed new officers including Katsuhito Endo and Zheng Yao. The leadership change also covers Anhui subsidiary responsibilities and the retirement or promotion of other executives.

Shibaura Machine established SHIBAURA MACHINE (ANHUI) CO., LTD. in China. The subsidiary is intended to manufacture, sell and service injection molding machines. Operations were scheduled to begin on May 1, 2026, while the existing Shanghai subsidiary was scheduled to close.

Shibaura Machine signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire 80 percent of LWB Steinl GmbH. The companies aimed to strengthen technology and system competence for fully automated production cells. Shibaura said it would exhibit an automated cell using an LWB vertical injection molding machine and a Shibaura THE SCARA industrial robot at K 2025.

The feeder used two parallel conveyors moving in opposite directions to recirculate parts. A camera identified component positions so the THE600 could pick and place parts presented in different orientations. The live demonstration ran at Automation UK in Coventry on June 18 and 19.

The THE800 provided an 800 mm arm length, 20 kg payload and cycle time down to 0.41 seconds. The THE1000 extended reach to one metre while retaining the 20 kg payload rating. TM Robotics presented the full THE family from June 27 to 30 at Automatica in Munich.

A sensor measured the highest item in each box before a robotic arm cut away excess cardboard. The machine processed up to 12 cartons per minute and passed through boxes that did not need resizing. Its monitoring tools reported blade changes, production and idle rates, capacity use and other operating data.

The THE800 demonstrated electric-vehicle battery assembly at Automate in Detroit. The THE1000 operated in a palletizing cell to show its 20 kg payload and one-metre reach. Both SCARAs targeted 0.4-second cycle times with a 2 kg load and joint speeds up to 9,500 mm per second.

The two cobots were Toshiba Machines first collaborative robot models. Live demonstrations ran at IREX in Tokyo from December 18 through 22. The company planned to make both the humanoid and SCARA collaborative models available to order in 2020.

The THE600 extended Shibaura Machines THE range for high-speed assembly and material-handling tasks. TM Robotics said THE models delivered twice the speed and 60% more payload than competing SCARAs in the same price range. The booth also demonstrated other SCARA and six-axis robots plus the TSAssist programming tool.

The TVM900 paired a 1,124 mm reach with a 20 kg payload. The TVM1200 offered a 1,418 mm reach and 15 kg payload, while the TVM1500 extended reach to 1,715 mm with a 10 kg payload. The robots supported integration with TSVision3D for vision-guided bin picking.

The system used two integrated high-speed stereo cameras to produce continuous 3D images at 30 frames per second. Its software balanced processing speed and accuracy while reducing the specialist expertise needed to configure bin picking. TM Robotics positioned the package for food, pharmaceutical and order-fulfilment automation.
