About SK Telecom
SK Telecom's physical-AI work connects network, cloud and edge infrastructure with industrial digital twins and robot-learning data. Its Robot Data Factory initiative focuses on collecting and standardising multimodal robot interaction data, while the company's NVIDIA partnership extends the stack into GPU-backed AI cloud infrastructure.
The programme sits inside a listed telecoms group whose broader business spans mobile networks, data centres and enterprise AI. A 2026 industrial digital-twin validation at an SK hynix fabrication plant demonstrates the operating layer, but individual robot platforms and deployments remain programme-specific.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-07-23 - Regulatory - ITU-T accepts SK Telecom Robot Data Factory work item
The proposal defines service, robot model and data, infrastructure, device and management layers. The work targets interoperable exchange among robots, data platforms and training infrastructure. ITU-T Study Group 11 will develop the accepted work item into interface and interworking specifications.
Source - 2026-07-15 - Partnership - SK Telecom starts industrial AI-RAN pilot programme
The first-year plan covers a patrol-robot network at SK Incheon Petrochemical and an autonomous-transport living lab in Pangyo. A second phase is planned to extend the system into KG Mobility's Pyeongtaek factory for production and logistics workflows. Samsung Electronics, HFR, Ericsson and Nokia equipment will be installed and compared within a multi-vendor network environment.
Source - 2026-06-08 - Partnership - SK Telecom and NVIDIA partner on physical-AI cloud infrastructure
The collaboration combines SK Telecom's data-centre and network infrastructure with NVIDIA accelerated computing. The programme targets robot training, simulation and industrial digital-twin workloads. The partners plan the first AI-cloud factory for 2027.
Source - 2026-06-01 - Deployment - SK Telecom validates industrial digital twin in SK hynix fab
The platform combines virtual-fab modelling with operational data to reproduce production conditions. SK Telecom completed a proof of concept in 2025 before applying the system in a fab environment. The companies planned phased commercialization following the validation work.
