About
About Swarm Aero
Swarm Aero’s Universal Swarm Node provides sensing, networking and edge compute aboard each aircraft, allowing vehicles to share information and coordinate locally rather than sending every decision through a central controller. The architecture is intended to keep the group functioning when communications are intermittent or individual nodes are lost.
A mission-level command layer translates operator intent into tasks for the participating aircraft and presents fleet status through a browser-based interface. Swarm Aero is developing the aircraft, autonomy and manufacturing system together so collaborative behaviour and production cost are considered during airframe design rather than added after the vehicle is complete.

- 2026-08-11 - Contract Award - Swarm Aero secures more than $10m in AFRL manufacturing contracts
The manufacturing work supports Swarm Aero’s planned mass-producible Group 5 autonomous aircraft. A related AFRL Phase II programme applies high-automation commercial composite processes to low-cost aerostructure production. The company is developing the aircraft alongside a swarm-autonomy architecture for coordinated operations.
Source - 2026-06-09 - Partnership - Swarm Aero selects Honeywell TPE331 engines for Group 5 UAS
Swarm selected the commercially available Honeywell TPE331 as the powerplant for its large, multi-mission Group 5 uncrewed aircraft. Initial propulsion systems had already been supplied under the contract, and the companies were working together on aircraft design, development, maintenance and operations. Honeywell reported 13,000 TPE331 engines delivered and 122 million flight hours; Swarm is using the established platform to reduce cost and production risk.
Source - 2026-03-11 - Funding - Swarm Aero raises $35M Series A for large UAV development
Swarm Aero announced a $35 million Series A to accelerate development and deployment of its large UAV and swarm software. Two Sigma Ventures and Silent Ventures led the round, with participation from Khosla Ventures, Construct Capital, Coatue, Founders Fund, and other existing seed investors. The funding supports Swarm Aero's work on uncrewed aircraft and coordinated autonomy for defense operations.
Source - 2026-02-18 - Facility Opening - Swarm Aero opens its Advanced Manufacturing Center in Fayetteville
Swarm Aero announced the opening of its 80,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center at Drake Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The company said the site would accelerate development and deployment of its large UAV and eventually support production at the level of thousands of aircraft. The release also said the operation is expected to create hundreds of high-skill aerospace jobs over the next decade.
