SWARM Biotactics equips living cockroaches with miniature backpacks for control, sensing, edge processing and secure communications. The organisms can enter gaps and traverse rubble or clutter that exclude conventional ground robots, carrying close-range sensors into collapsed structures, denied terrain and dense urban spaces.
SWARM OS combines mission control, swarm autonomy, live data and sensor fusion, while rugged deployment kits package the units for field use. The company targets defence reconnaissance, covert security sensing and survivor location in search-and-rescue operations. Its systems are described as field-tested, but the company remains in the transition from research to scaled operational deployment rather than a mature high-volume supplier.
