About XCath

XCath is developing the Iris endovascular robotic system and ElectroSteer deflectable guidewire for navigating complex blood vessels. Iris places a robotic cassette beside the patient and gives the physician console control of compatible guidewires, catheters and treatment devices with submillimetre positioning, supporting both local operation and remote intervention while separating the operator from fluoroscopy radiation.

ElectroSteer uses a microfabricated Nitinol and stainless-steel shaft with an electrically actuated, radiopaque distal tip that deflects in two directions. It can connect to Iris or a battery-powered handheld controller to reach difficult neurovascular anatomy. The platform has completed first-in-human brain-aneurysm procedures and a remote robotic stroke intervention, but Iris remains under development and is not commercially available.
