U145

Airbus U145 is a large uncrewed aerial logistics system in development from the H145 helicopter architecture. It retains the base aircraft's twin Safran Arriel 2E engine configuration and structural design while removing the physical cockpit. A new nose door with a foldable loading table and a dedicated cargo floor are planned to support freight handling, and Airbus describes a modular airframe that can be configured for civil or military missions under different airworthiness requirements.

The programme is intended to add a specialised sensor suite and artificial-intelligence functions for autonomous flight. Its use of the established H145 platform provides an existing aerodynamic and powerplant basis, but it does not make the U145 an in-service autonomous aircraft. Airbus's current product material presents the system as a development programme, with a safety-pilot maiden flight planned for the end of 2026 and entry into service targeted for the early 2030s. Final payload, certification, autonomy scope and operating approvals remain subject to development.
