About Applanix POS MV

POS MV combines multi-frequency GNSS with an inertial measurement unit and the GAMS dual-antenna heading system. Sensor fusion produces position, velocity, roll, pitch, true heading and heave for the vessel and its survey payload, including during brief GNSS interruption or difficult marine motion. Time synchronisation associates sonar, LiDAR and camera measurements with the corresponding vessel state.

Hydrographic teams install the system between the vessel-navigation and mapping sensors and use its real-time output for stabilisation and data acquisition. TrueHeave reconstructs longer-period vertical movement after the survey, while POSPac Complete refines the GNSS-inertial trajectory during post-processing. The resulting motion reference lets coastal and offshore operators georeference multibeam sonar, bathymetric LiDAR and other marine datasets through one calibrated positioning workflow.
