About Copper Runtime & SDK

Copper Runtime & SDK is an Apache-2.0-licensed Rust framework for building and running robot software as static task graphs. Developers declare sources, processing tasks and sinks in a RON configuration, and Copper generates a purpose-built execution schedule at compile time. The hot path is designed for zero-allocation, data-oriented execution. Targets range from Linux and macOS systems to single-board computers and bare-metal microcontrollers.

During operation, the runtime records messages, timing and state into a unified Copper log. A recorded run can then be replayed deterministically and inspected offline, helping engineers reproduce timing-dependent behaviour and compare software changes against previous executions. Copper can connect to ROS 2 through Zenoh, allowing teams to integrate or migrate components incrementally. The repository includes templates, examples, a component catalogue, logging and replay tools, and browser simulations built from the same applications used on physical hardware.
