GENE.01

About

About GENE.01

GENE.01 is Generative Bionics’ humanoid platform for developing industrial applications that combine physical AI with human interaction. It has progressed from the design concept shown in early 2026 to a functional sensorized platform. Distributed skin detects touch, proximity, force and temperature, supporting contact-aware behaviour and the teaching of forces as well as movements.

The company treats GENE.01 as a common architecture for task-specific robots, adapting AI, exterior design and end effectors to an application. An open robot model supports simulation and development through Python and conda package channels. A Fincantieri project is developing a welding configuration for complex shipyard environments, while Italdesign supports exterior industrialisation. The platform is in development and industrial validation; the functional unveiling does not establish routine commercial use of every proposed configuration.

Timeline

  • Generative Bionics plans Italian Physical AI Data Factory with AMD

2026-10-21 - Facility Opening - The Italian hub is planned as the first of three facilities, followed by a second European site and a third serving global markets. GENE.01 would generate real-world task data that digital twins expand into simulation variations before physical validation. AMD is the planned AI-infrastructure partner, extending its earlier investment and onboard-compute relationship with the company.
