Scan&Spray

GrayMatter Robotics’ Scan&Spray is an adaptive robotic coating system for applying paints, primers and protective finishes to complex manufactured parts. It scans the workpiece, plans the spray path without offline programming and adjusts gun distance and angle to follow changing contours. The process is designed to build a uniform coating thickness while limiting overspray across high-mix geometries.

The system supports paint-kitchen integration and multiple coating stages, including primer, rust-protection, basecoat and clearcoat applications. It can operate within existing spray booths and forms part of GrayMatter’s wider surface-processing platform, allowing a manufacturer to connect spraying with preparation steps such as sanding or blasting. GrayMatter supplies the automation as a complete package of task-specific hardware, control software, operator training and ongoing support, keeping the cell focused on the customer’s materials, coating process and line environment.
