Kaikoa 42.2

About

About Kaikoa 42.2

The 42-foot craft uses twin propulsion and a working deck sized for larger payloads than Havoc’s compact Rampage vessel. PacMar Technologies builds the hull, while Havoc supplies the edge autonomy, communications and command environment used to coordinate it with other maritime assets. The scale supports distributed security and delivery work without moving to a ship-sized platform.

Sea trials have included autonomous escort formations and longer logistics routes. During RIMPAC 2026, a Kaikoa 42.2 carried a replacement component roughly 40 nautical miles to a coalition support vessel, supplying exact-platform evidence for at-sea delivery. That result supports logistics maturity for the demonstrated configuration; other defence or sensing roles still depend on fitted equipment and separate mission evidence.

Context

Market context

Kaikoa is a Havoc autonomous surface vessel positioned between small attritable craft and larger medium USVs.

  • Target environment: Coastal waters, naval test ranges, harbor security zones and maritime operations where autonomous vessels can support fleet activity.
  • Workflow context: Autonomous surface operations, fleet support, payload carriage, patrol, distributed maritime sensing and multi-vessel mission roles.
  • Customer context: Defense, government and maritime operators evaluating uncrewed surface vessels for distributed operations.
  • Deployment model: Commercial defense-maritime platform in Havoc's ASV lineup, positioned above smaller attritable vessels.
  • Commercial maturity: Commercially presented product family with public maritime-system positioning.
  • Adoption constraints: Adoption depends on autonomy reliability, sea-state performance, payload integration, rules of engagement, procurement and support.
  • Market position: Mid-size ASV lane connecting small attritable craft to heavier uncrewed maritime platforms.
  • Adjacent products: Rampage, Saronic Corsair, Blue Water Autonomy vessels, Saildrone Surveyor
