About PV5

PV5 is Kia’s first production Platform Beyond Vehicle family, built on a dedicated electric architecture for passenger, cargo, crew and accessibility configurations. A low floor, modular body and five- or seven-seat layouts support commercial fleets, family transport and wheelchair-accessible conversions.

The vehicle includes Android-based infotainment, over-the-air updates, driver-assistance systems and fleet-management integrations. Cargo models extend the platform into delivery and business use, while partner programmes are developing remote-driving and mobility services around production PV5 vehicles.

Kia, KT and SUM target PV5 remote-driving service launch
2026-07-23 - Partnership - Kia is responsible for vehicle development and integration, KT for communications infrastructure and SUM for the remote-driving system. The initial applications are planned for vehicle-sharing and mobile public-service use cases. The partners target commercial service launch before the end of 2026, beginning with selected international markets.

Kia begins mass production of PV5 Passenger and Cargo Long
2025-07-23 - Production Milestone - PV5 production uses Kia’s E-GMP.S electric platform and Flexible Body System for modular body configurations. The initial manufacturing run covers Passenger and Cargo Long models, with further configurations scheduled to follow. Kia designed the common front cabin and interchangeable rear modules to support as many as 16 PV5 variants.
