Wave Glider SV5

Wave Glider SV5 is a wave- and solar-powered autonomous surface vehicle built for persistent ocean monitoring. Released in 2025, the 5.15-metre platform provides 21 modular payload bays, carries up to 215 kilograms, stores up to 15.7 kWh and collects up to 525 watts of solar power. Its larger energy and payload capacity supports demanding sensor combinations and operations at high latitudes or during winter.

The vehicle couples a surface float with a submerged glider that converts wave motion into forward propulsion, while onboard solar generation powers payloads and communications. It can remain deployed for up to 12 months and send data in real time from remote waters. Compatibility with Wave Glider SV3 payloads and sensors gives operators a migration path for established oceanographic, offshore and maritime-security missions.
