OverDrive
About
About OverDrive
OverDrive provides localisation, perception, route planning and vehicle control for ground platforms operating beyond prepared roads. Its passive sensor architecture maps and traverses mud, vegetation, slopes, dust, snow and other natural terrain without requiring detailed prior maps, fixed infrastructure or continuous satellite navigation.
The software is vehicle agnostic and can be integrated with customer drive-by-wire systems, sensors and mission equipment. One operator can assign intent and supervise several autonomous platforms without continuously steering each vehicle. OverDrive is deployed across US defence programmes and underpins Overland AI’s own ULTRA vehicle as well as third-party tactical platforms.
Capabilities
Source-backed capabilities
- Workflows: Autonomous movement, maneuver, mission execution, route following and vehicle autonomy in rough terrain.
- Operating environments: Off-road terrain, defense mobility routes, GPS-denied areas, degraded-weather environments and low-communications settings.
- Target markets: Defense users, ground-vehicle integrators and operators needing autonomy for existing or purpose-built off-road vehicles.
- Deployment model: Commercial autonomy software product integrated with Overland AI ground platforms and partner vehicles.
- GNSS-denied navigation
Demonstrated - 2026-04-23 - The prototype used OverDrive and SPARK to support autonomous maneuver in expeditionary, GPS-denied and comms-denied environments.

- Overland AI wins $20M U.S. Army autonomous-breaching contract
2026-09-08 - Contract Award - The package uses Overland’s OverDrive ground-autonomy stack for vehicle integration and multi-robot coordination. The Army selected Overland for the program in July; the funded contract is the new Sept. 8 milestone. The award is separate from Overland’s June U.S. Marine Corps APFIT production contract.
Source - Overland AI demonstrates autonomous ground capability for USMC ROGUE Fires
2026-04-23 - Demonstration - The prototype used OverDrive and SPARK to support autonomous maneuver in expeditionary, GPS-denied and comms-denied environments. Overland said the ROGUE Fires prototype operated without human intervention over mixed terrain for several hours. The demonstration also included operations between ROGUE Fires and other platforms, including manned-unmanned teaming.
