GOLIATH

Remotion’s GOLIATH is a hydraulically powered magnetic work ROV for steel hulls and offshore structures in the splash zone. Four patented magnetic belt drives provide up to 3,200 kilograms of traction, while an onboard eight-kilowatt hydraulic power unit supplies the valve pack and attached tooling.

The low, open frame reduces hydrodynamic drag and carries inspection, cleaning and mechanical tools along compatible steel surfaces. Remotion has used the platform to install cofferdams for sea-chest isolation and hull-crack repair, including structures up to three metres wide, and reports operation in 5.7-metre significant wave conditions. An emergency quick-release system can detach the vehicle for recovery after a preset communication-loss limit.
