About RT-2 (IRIS)

RT-2, also called IRIS, is a compact tracked robot that personnel can throw into a confined or hazardous area and then drive remotely. Its quiet drivetrain and 360-degree video with zoom support reconnaissance in buildings, tunnels and other locations where direct entry would expose an operator. Power, Ethernet and video connections allow mission-specific sensors or accessories to be attached.

Roboteam lists a mass of 1.65 kilograms, dimensions of 24 by 20.5 by 11 centimetres and payload capacity of one kilogram. Maximum travel speed is four kilometres per hour, while command traffic uses an encrypted IP link. Those specifications describe the base platform and do not guarantee radio reach or image quality through every structure. Terrain, stairs, debris, link conditions and the installed add-on determine practical access and observation.
