Sahara

About

About Sahara

Sahara is Harmattan AI's uncrewed-aircraft synthetic-aperture-radar payload for persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. It performs wide-area scanning, terrain segmentation, change detection and maritime surveillance across lighting and weather conditions that can limit optical sensors.

The payload processes radar data onboard and delivers imagery and detected changes to operators and command systems. Sahara provides the sensing and analysis layer; aircraft performance, mission authorisation and wider command-and-control integration belong to the host system.

Context

Market context

Sahara is Harmattan AI's UAV-borne synthetic aperture radar payload for all-weather ISR and situational awareness.

  • Target environment: Tactical UAV operations, degraded-visibility environments and field ISR missions needing radar sensing.
  • Workflow context: SAR imaging, onboard processing, situational awareness, all-weather ISR and near-real-time image reconstruction.
  • Customer context: Defense users, drone integrators and tactical operators needing aerial sensing beyond visual cameras.
  • Deployment model: Commercial payload product in Harmattan AI's defense robotics stack.
  • Commercial maturity: Commercial payload system in Harmattan AI's defense robotics portfolio.
  • Adoption constraints: Adoption depends on host aircraft compatibility, power, weight, radar performance, processing latency and procurement.
  • Market position: Sensor payload lane for tactical drones, not a ground robot or standalone aircraft.
  • Adjacent products: IMSAR NSP radar, Shield AI ViDAR integrations, Teledyne FLIR payloads, Overwatch Imaging sensors
