safeVisionary2

safeVisionary2 measures a three-dimensional volume using time-of-flight light pulses and evaluates configured protective fields for industrial safety. On mobile robots it can detect obstacles above the plane covered by a conventional laser scanner, protect the sides during turns and identify drop-offs. Gigabit Ethernet also exposes measurement data for contour-based localisation or object detection, leaving motion decisions to the host controls.

The camera captures 512 by 424 pixels at 30 hertz. Its protective field spans 68 by 42 degrees and reaches two metres normally or four metres in increased-range body-resolution mode; other field types use a wider 68-by-58-degree view. SICK rates it Type 2, SIL 1 and performance level c. Field configuration, mounting, object resolution, multiple sampling, response time, environmental limits and complete machine validation determine safe performance.
