About IMX500 Intelligent Vision Sensor
IMX500 combines a 12.3-megapixel CMOS image sensor with a digital-signal processor, dedicated AI-processing logic and onboard memory in one package. It can perform image acquisition and neural-network inference within the sensor, then output metadata, selected regions or conventional imagery according to the application.
Local inference reduces the need to transmit complete video streams to an external processor or cloud service, lowering latency, bandwidth and exposure of identifiable imagery. Developers deploy converted TensorFlow Lite models through Sony’s AITRIOS environment and connect the sensor through MIPI and control interfaces. Applications include occupancy analytics, industrial inspection, robotics and smart-camera systems.
