About IMX500 Intelligent Vision Sensor

IMX500 integrates a 12.3-megapixel CMOS imager, digital signal processing, dedicated inference logic and onboard memory in one sensor package. It can acquire images and execute a converted neural-network model locally, then emit metadata, selected regions or conventional image output through its supported interfaces. Sony lists full-pixel capture at 60 frames per second and simultaneous video-plus-AI processing at 30 frames per second.

Running inference at the imaging device reduces round trips to an external processor or cloud service, lowering latency, bandwidth demand and the need to transmit identifiable video. Developers can deploy TensorFlow Lite models through the AITRIOS toolchain. The architecture is intended for embedded vision deployments such as occupancy analysis, industrial inspection, robotics and smart cameras where compact hardware and local processing matter.
