Flying Autonomous Robots
About
About Flying Autonomous Robots
Flying Autonomous Robots are orchard-harvesting machines whose control system accounts for contact with leaves and fruit during picking. Vision detects and classifies objects in the canopy, trajectory planning guides the approach, and balancing algorithms compensate for the forces acting on the flying unit as it works among foliage.
Fleet-management software uses orchard data to coordinate harvesting activity. The resulting fruit records are also assembled into information about each bin, including distributions of size, weight and colour, with timestamps and geolocation. This connects the physical picking sequence to harvest planning and the information available before the bin reaches the packing house.

Timeline
- Tevel secures $18M Series C funding for flying robot harvesters
2026-03-26 - Funding - Tevel raised $18 million in Series C funding to expand its Flying Autonomous Robots harvesting business. Sound Media Ventures led the round, with Maverick Ventures Israel, Kubota, AgFunder and OurCrowd participating. The financing supports commercial expansion of Tevel's orchard-harvesting system as growers face persistent seasonal labour shortages.

2023-05-29 - Partnership - Tevel partnered with Unifrutti and deployed its autonomous harvesting system in apple orchards in Linares, Chile. The deployment used eight Flying Autonomous Robots mounted on a ground harvesting platform developed by Darwin Harvesting Group. The rollout expanded Tevel's commercial harvesting work into South America with a named global fruit producer and live orchard operations.

2023-02-14 - Product Launch - Tevel introduced its Alpha-Bot robotic harvesting system at World Ag Expo in Tulare, California. The system combined eight Flying Autonomous Robots with an S&S Alpha-1 platform harvester and was tailored for modern U.S. orchard row formats. The launch shows a more productized U.S.-market configuration rather than just a lab or pilot concept.

2022-08-16 - Deployment - HMC Farms partnered with Tevel to pilot its Flying Autonomous Robots in California stone-fruit orchards. Tevel said the system had already harvested peaches, nectarines, and plums during its first U.S. customer work. The deployment is one of Tevel's clearest early commercial field deployments in the U.S. orchard market.
Source - Tevel begins fully automated robotic harvesting in Europe
2022-04-19 - Deployment - Tevel said its Flying Autonomous Robots system was set to begin fully automated harvesting in Italy from June 2022. The deployment was focused on apricot harvesting and marked one of the clearer early European commercial operating milestones for the platform. The deployment helps bridge the public timeline between the 2021 funding round and the later 2022–2023 grower deployments.
