Torc Autonomous Trucking System
About
About Torc Autonomous Trucking System
Torc’s autonomous trucking system is built around the Freightliner Cascadia with redundant steering, braking, power and communications. These vehicle systems provide the physical control architecture for autonomous driving, alongside the sensors and onboard computing used to perceive traffic and plan motion.
The first-generation service is designed around hub-to-hub freight journeys on highways and interstates, particularly routes longer than 250 miles. Trucks travel between logistics hubs where freight can connect with local distribution operations. This concentrates the initial driving task on the long-distance segment of a carrier’s network and gives operators defined locations for dispatch, arrival and transfer into the next stage of transport.
