VNS01 Visual Navigation System

UAV Navigation VNS01 is a compact visual-navigation module for small and medium unmanned aircraft operating without reliable GNSS. Its onboard camera combines visual odometry with pattern recognition to build internal maps and correct dead-reckoning drift. In unknown terrain, stated drift is about one percent of distance travelled; recognised terrain can provide repeated position correction.

The 100-gram unit measures 22 by 46 by 77 millimetres and interfaces through CAN 2.0B, RS-232 and 100Base-Tx Ethernet. It operates from an unregulated 9-to-36-volt supply and is designed to integrate with the VECTOR flight-control family. VNS01 is a navigation component, so aircraft-level mission capability depends on the host UAS and its complete sensor and control configuration.
