About AM General
AM General manufactures tactical vehicles and develops military mobility systems for defence customers. Owned by investment funds affiliated with KPS Capital Partners and based in South Bend, Indiana, the company builds and supports HUMVEE and JLTV A2 vehicles, combining chassis engineering, vehicle production, integration and lifecycle services. Its unmanned ground-vehicle programme extends this manufacturing and engineering base into autonomous logistics and mission support.
The UGV combines an AM General chassis with drive-by-wire controls, partner autonomy and modular payload arrangements. Work with Textron Systems and Carnegie Robotics supports unmanned operation, while proposed configurations address transport, reconnaissance, casualty evacuation and counter-drone missions. The company has presented the platform at defence exhibitions as part of its future-capabilities programme. Integrations involving aerial-robot launch systems and mission equipment add potential roles to the vehicle architecture. These development activities sit alongside AM General's established production and support of crewed tactical vehicles.

- 2026-10-09 - Capability - AM General announces XTEND aerial-robot integration for its autonomous UGV
The UGV carries the XOS-powered NEST launch pod and is set to display a SCORPIO 1000 system for reconnaissance in complex or GPS-denied environments. The JLTV A2 display will combine the Samson 30 mm remote weapon station with Iron Wasp, an autonomous counter-drone system carried by the vehicle. The configurations are scheduled for AUSA on October 12–14 in Washington, D.C.; NEST provides a mobile launch point that moves aerial robots closer to the mission area.

The platform was developed with Textron Systems and Carnegie Robotics, combining an AM General chassis with autonomy and drive-by-wire control. The vehicle uses a 250-horsepower engine and supports payloads up to 6,000 pounds. The planned exhibit paired the UGV with a Hornet remote weapon station for counter-UAS missions.
