SkyGrid
About
About SkyGrid
SkyGrid develops operational and airspace software for drones and advanced air mobility. Its platform combines route planning, fleet supervision, weather, traffic and regulatory data so operators can prepare and monitor missions within changing airspace constraints.
Automated checks identify conflicts and restrictions before launch, while live telemetry and alerts support operations centres managing multiple aircraft. Interfaces connect enterprise workflows, vehicle systems and authority data. SkyGrid, formed by Boeing and SparkCognition, targets scalable commercial aviation operations including inspection, delivery and future autonomous passenger or cargo flights.

Events
- 2026-08-10 - Acquisition - Archer agrees to acquire Boeing’s Wisk Aero, Insitu and SkyGrid subsidiaries
Wisk adds six generations of autonomous eVTOL development and more than 1,700 flight tests. Insitu has built more than 3,500 uncrewed aircraft systems deployed across 35 countries and generates more than $200 million in annual revenue. SkyGrid contributes aircraft-agnostic airspace-management software; the acquired businesses bring nearly two million combined flight hours of operating data.

Xu previously served as Honeywell Aerospace CTO for unmanned aerial systems and urban air mobility. His earlier work included autonomy and advanced-air-mobility roles at Airbus, General Atomics and RAND. SkyGrid said the Boeing investment would accelerate secure third-party services for remotely piloted and autonomous aircraft.

SkyGrid was one of thirteen organizations selected to work with NASA on future advanced-air-mobility systems. The work covered airspace-system capabilities, integrated vehicle and airspace demonstrations, and simulations for National Campaign-1. SkyGrid focused on conflict management, interoperability, community impact and urban airspace infrastructure for passenger and cargo aircraft.
