About R3 Robotics

R3 Robotics automates the dismantling of electric-vehicle battery packs, e-drives and power electronics. Formerly named Circu Li-ion, the Luxembourg company operates a disassembly facility in Karlsruhe and supplies industrial robotic cells that combine 3D vision, model interpretation, adaptive motion planning and task-specific tooling. Each operation creates structured process and component data for traceability, reporting and downstream recovery decisions.

Customers can deploy Robotics-as-a-Service equipment at their own recycling or remanufacturing site, or send systems to R3 for discharge, diagnostics and dismantling. New battery formats pass through a structured intake, simulated recipe creation and physical validation before production use, allowing the shared format library to expand over time. R3 separates components for repair, reuse, second-life use or material recovery. Downstream partners perform the chemical recycling process itself.

Timeline

Events

  • 2026-02-05 - Capability - R3 Robotics expands automated dismantling from batteries to complete EV systems

The expanded platform applies AI-powered robotics, computer vision and adaptive tooling beyond battery packs. R3 positioned the system for continuous recycling and remanufacturing operations with component-level traceability. The company offers disassembly at its own sites and integrated robotic lines for customer facilities.

  • 2026-02-05 - Funding - R3 Robotics raises EUR 14 million Series A

HG Ventures and Suma Capital co-led the EUR 14 million Series A, with Oetker Collection, the EIC Fund and existing investors also participating. The company separately cited EUR 6 million in grants; that non-dilutive support is not included in the Series A amount shown here. R3 planned to scale deployments for batteries, e-drives and power electronics while offering both operated dismantling sites and robotic lines for customer facilities.
