About Ukrainian Armor
Ukrainian Armor is a Kyiv-based design and manufacturing company producing specialized armored vehicles, mortars, ammunition and related defense equipment. Its broader portfolio includes the VARTA, NOVATOR and KAMRAT vehicle families, vehicle modernization, training and through-life support.
The company's direct robotics exposure is the Protector heavy unmanned ground vehicle. Ukraine's Ministry of Defence authorized Protector for operational use in June 2025, citing remote operation, all-wheel drive, an internal-combustion engine and up to 400 km of range. By August 2026 the National Guard had received the first 10 systems under a German-funded 100-unit order for logistics and casualty evacuation.

The prototype uses shotgun-based effectors intended for close-range kinetic interception. Automatic detection and tracking are combined with an unmanned firing module to reduce operator exposure. The system remains an experimental demonstration rather than a fielded product.

The first 10 systems were distributed among four National Guard units. Ukrainian Armor said 100 Protector systems had been contracted for the National Guard with German financial support. The National Guard logistics configuration is reported with 1,480 kg payload capacity and up to 4 tonnes towing for supply transport and casualty evacuation.
