Epiroc extends Deep Automation to underground-to-surface hauling
Epiroc expanded Deep Automation so autonomous underground mine trucks can transition into surface environments and complete end-to-end hauling and dumping cycles.

Evidence notes
- A common automation system can now cover operating cycles that run from underground production areas to surface dumping locations.
- The surface capability uses 3D LiDAR for localisation, mapping and obstacle detection where positioning references are sparser and weather conditions can change.
- At Epiroc World Expo in June 2026, a battery-electric mine truck demonstrated the system by detecting obstacles and stopping automatically.
Company context
Epiroc manufactures mining and infrastructure equipment with automation, remote-operation and digital-control systems for underground and surface operations.
