About
About Sierra Base
Sierra Base develops SIRIUS modules and software for autonomous inspection of bridges, buildings, tunnels, dams and industrial facilities. A rotary LiDAR unit mounted on a drone or ground robot creates a three-dimensional map, localises the vehicle where GPS is unavailable and plans paths with collision avoidance. Optional high-resolution cameras collect surface imagery while the robot maintains a consistent distance from the structure.
SIRIUS GCS turns the point cloud into a web-based digital twin where operators define inspection points, generate repeatable routes and supervise multiple machines. AI then detects and maps cracks, efflorescence, exposed reinforcement and other structural damage, producing condition drawings and diagnostic reports. The same platform supports progress measurement with sub-centimetre 3D modelling. Sierra Base supplies modules for drones, ground vehicles and wearable scanning, alongside integrated inspection packages for difficult-to-reach infrastructure.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-10-02 - Award - Sierra Base selected for Scale-up TIPS infrastructure-inspection R&D
The project targets automated mapping, damage analysis, inspection reports and digital infrastructure management. SLAM-based navigation is intended to support GPS-denied inspection beneath bridges. IBK Venture Investment will support growth, with Seoul Facilities Corporation participating as a testbed and prospective demand partner.
Source - 2026-07-13 - Contract Award - Sierra Base selected for rotating-LiDAR SLAM construction pilot
The pilot will capture structural surfaces with a rotating LiDAR and SLAM stack. The system is intended to measure and quantify cracks digitally at a Daewoo E&C site. Results are scheduled to be presented at the 2026 Smart Construction Expo in November.
Source - 2026-03-13 - Demonstration - Sierra Base demonstrates SIRIUS UAV with Gremsy Pixy LR
The mounted Pixy LR gimbal carried Sony LR1 imaging for detailed structural inspection. The configuration targeted bridge monitoring and mapping, including difficult access and weak-GPS environments. The companies planned subsequent operational deployment and expansion to Gremsy's VIO payload.
