About Multiply Labs
Multiply Labs builds modular robotic clusters for advanced biomanufacturing, starting with cell therapies. Four Universal Robots arms coordinate instrument handling, liquid transfers and other process steps inside a closed manufacturing environment. The system works around customers' established GMP instruments, while a visual process builder lets scientists configure workflows and retain control of their protocols.
Its software records process parameters, material genealogy and operator actions for quality review. Customers include AstraZeneca, Legend Biotech and Kyverna Therapeutics. Founded in 2016 by Fred Parietti and Alice Melocchi, the San Francisco company established an Italian subsidiary in Turin in 2026 to develop manufacturing capacity, supply chains and regulated-production quality systems under former Ferrari manufacturing leader Enrico Antonio Racca.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-10-06 - Funding - Multiply Labs raises $75M Series B for robotic drug manufacturing
AstraZeneca, Lux Capital and Founders Fund participated in the round. The financing brings cumulative funding since the company’s 2016 founding to more than $100 million. Customers operate the machines at their own facilities and purchase cartridges and technical support.
Source - 2026-05-27 - Org Change - Multiply Labs establishes Italian manufacturing subsidiary in Turin
Enrico Antonio Racca, former Ferrari head of supply chain and manufacturing, became founding general manager and the parent company’s supply-chain and manufacturing chief. The Turin team is being built to recruit manufacturing staff, design a scalable supply chain and establish quality systems for regulated pharmaceutical environments.
Source - 2026-01-27 - Partnership - Multiply Labs reaches AstraZeneca agreement on GMP-ready production systems
Four arms operate in parallel across instruments already used in cell-therapy manufacturing. The evaluation targets greater throughput in existing facilities while limiting process changes and maintaining clinical and commercial quality requirements.
Source - 2026-01-12 - Capability - Multiply Labs adopts NVIDIA robotics tools for biomanufacturing development
Isaac Sim supports hardware simulation and software validation before changes reach physical systems. FoundationPose and FoundationStereo support learning from expert demonstrations, while GR00T work targets manipulation research.
Source - 2025-09-30 - Partnership - Multiply Labs expands Thermo Fisher collaboration to DynaCellect cell processing
DynaCellect handles closed-system cell isolation, activation and bead removal in cell-therapy development and manufacturing. The collaboration extends earlier automation work with Heracell VIOS incubators and the Gibco CTS Rotea cell-processing system.
Source - 2025-06-12 - Partnership - Multiply Labs partners with Kyverna to evaluate robotic cell-therapy manufacturing
KYV-102 combines a fully human CD19 CAR-T approach with Kyverna’s whole-blood rapid manufacturing process. Multiply Labs plans to use its Resonance pipeline to learn workflows from video demonstrations through automatic segmentation and trajectory extraction.
Source - 2024-09-24 - Partnership - Multiply Labs agrees Legend Biotech priority access to cell-therapy robotics
The modular clusters use robotic arms to move materials between instruments already used in cell-therapy production. The approach targets adoption of automation while retaining established manufacturing processes. Legend co-developed the CAR-T treatment Carvykti with Johnson & Johnson, extending Multiply Labs’ work to a commercial cell-therapy developer.
Source - 2024-04-23 - Partnership - Multiply Labs plans robotic cell-therapy collaboration with Stanford LCGM
Cell-therapy organizations will be able to compare manual processes with automated versions side by side. The robots are designed to use existing GMP instruments, consumables and reagents without major process changes. A Cytotherapy study provides the template, comparing manual and robotic cell expansion with the same equipment and materials.
Source - 2022-12-01 - Partnership - Multiply Labs deploys personalized-drug robotics with WuXi STA
The system makes personalized-strength and multi-compartment capsules combining multiple active ingredients. It handles powders, blends, granules, beads and minitabs for pediatric, geriatric and rare-disease applications. The collaboration addresses conventional manufacturing that is restricted to one large batch at a time.
Source - 2021-04-14 - Funding - Multiply Labs raises $20M Series A for robotic drug production
Lux Capital and Pathfinder, Founders Fund’s early-stage investment vehicle, joined seed investors Fifty Years and Garage Capital. Cumulative funding exceeded $25 million after the round. The financing supported cloud-controlled robotic systems for industrial-scale production.
