Brighter Signals develops fabric-based tactile sensors that measure the location, area and intensity of touch across flexible surfaces. Its construction places a semiconductive textile between conductive layers; changes in energy transfer reveal pressure and contact with fewer sensing elements than dense arrays of conventional resistive sensors.
The technology can wrap robot fingers, palms, grippers, seats, wearables and medical interfaces without imposing a rigid sensing surface. Robotics teams use the resulting high-depth signal to collect manipulation data, recognise grasp contact and reproduce aspects of human tactile perception. Automotive and healthcare applications extend the same material architecture to occupant presence, posture and patient monitoring, with sensor shape and coverage adapted to the host product.
