EXEDY manufactures automotive and industrial powertrain components and is developing a firefighting water-discharge drone.

In Japan’s FY2026 Fire and Disaster Prevention research programme, EXEDY is a research collaborator under a Morita Holdings-led project testing the drone with a view to practical deployment. The firefighting aircraft remains in development and verification ahead of any commercial deployment. The project combines an aerial platform, hose management and controlled water discharge for inaccessible fires.

  • 2026-07-15 - Award - EXEDY joins Morita firefighting-drone research programme

    EXEDY is providing the drone-development platform while Morita contributes firefighting-system and operating expertise. Earlier testing validated stable flight during water discharge and compatibility with Morita’s compressed-air-foam system. The current milestone is continued government-backed research and validation, not commercial deployment.
