About Fabrinet
Fabrinet was founded in 2000 by optical-manufacturing executive David T. Mitchell and built its operating base in Thailand. The public company provides engineering, supply-chain, assembly and testing services for complex customer designs, especially products that combine optics, electronics and precise mechanical integration. It describes itself as a contract manufacturer rather than an original-design manufacturer, so product ownership remains with its customers.
The company entered automotive module and lidar-system manufacturing at its Chonburi campus and also serves industrial and sensor markets. That capability can support perception hardware and other robotics subsystems when an OEM needs a qualified production partner.
